The president is responsible to ensure that all boards and committees perform their duties faithfully. He sees to it that the congregation’s resolutions are carried out, and presides at all Voters’ Assembly and Church Council meetings. The president is also responsible for appointing officers if vacancies occur.
The secretary is responsible for all minutes and records of Voters’ Assembly and Church Council meetings and serves as the congregation’s correspondence secretary.
The treasurer is responsible for supervising the congregation’s funds, presenting financial reports to the Voters’ Assembly and the Church Council. The treasurer is also responsible for supervising the work of the Finance Secretary.
Board members are elected to supervise all educational activities, including Sunday School, the Day Care Board, Bible studies, and youth organizations. They are responsible for promoting the dissemination of Christian literature to members of the congregation.
The Elders are elected to assist the Pastors in the performance of their duties, and to be concerned over the spiritual welfare of members. They plan and conduct visitation programs, and encourage members to participate in worship and the Lord’s Supper. They are responsible for ensuring the proper conduct of worship and oversee the work of Ushers and the Altar Guild.
Board members concern themselves with the physical and emotional well-being of the members of St. John and the communities we serve. Supervise greeter and supervise nursery program, they promote awareness of Christian social ministry needs, and they encourage Christian fellowship by planning and implementing social gatherings.
Board members direct their attention to the study of Scriptural principles regarding Christian stewardship. They conduct stewardship educational programs and maintain a talent file and a program to assist members in finding opportunities to serve that match their God-given gifts and talents. This board encourages the Gospel motivated practice of joyful, proportionate, first fruits giving in response to God’s blessings in each of our lives.
Board members have custody and control of St. John’s buildings and property. They ensure the property is kept in good condition and is protected against loss or damage. They are responsible for contracting and supervising all maintenance services.
